History of Sunset Shores

In the early 1950's a  real estate developer named Peter Kerhulas from St. Joseph purchased a large block of land with lake-frontage in New Buffalo.  He eventually built many homes along the lake and named  the new neighborhood Sunset Shores. This was a real estate ad in the Chicago Tribune in the 1950's.  This started a real estate boom in New Buffalo which continues today.

There are many of the original home-buyers  and their families that  still own their homes today.  This is a testiment to the beauty of our neighborhood!

Click here to learn a little more information about Peter Kerhulas and his journey to America from Greece as a child and how he came to be a home developer in Michigan.
